Since its launch in February, we&#039;ve tested it in our lab with numerous specimens and are impressed by its high resolution and versatility.<\/p><p>The benchtop device is equipped with two detectors: one optimized for large and dense samples, the other enabling particularly high resolution. This unique functionality combines two devices in one. With the flat-panel detector, we can scan a large knee joint with titanium screws or geological cores. By switching to the sCMOS detector, we can image the microstructure of bones, pharmaceutical preparations, filter membranes, and composite materials.<\/p><p><a class=\"unterstrichen\" href=\"https:\/\/homepage.univie.ac.at\/brian.metscher\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brian Metscher<\/a> from the Institute of Evolutionary Biology at the University of Vienna provided us with three samples to test the imaging quality at high magnifications. This allows for a significantly smaller focal spot (less than 2 \u00b5m) than a standard reflection target.
